Vegan Concert Guitar model 1

The Vegan Concert Model 1 is a concert guitar built in the style of the Spanish guitar makers in Granada. It is hand made by our Luthier Malcolm Spencer in Brighton, England, only using machines to speed up some basic tasks and takes over 120 hours to build each one. As Malcolm is a Vegan he insists on using products that do not contain animal products and have not involved animal cruelty, thus making the guitars he produces vegan guitars.

The sound and feel of a classical guitar will depend on the materials used and the care and skill of the maker.

The top can be either Spruce or Cedar. A spruce top will sound bright to start with, and with playing will develop further tones and colour. A cedar top will usually immediately sound warmer than spruce and will still develop other tones with more playing. There is no right or wrong choice, just a personal preference.

There is a large choice of woods available for the back and sides, and each one will give a different look and a different tone. Many of the woods used were originally listed in the CITES list, which means the wood is taken from a tree which is in danger of being over felled. Although the impact of the listing was recently lowered for musical instruments, Ginkgo Guitars will use non listed woods where possible as these too can provide a great tone and look amazing. As these woods are usually priced for their tone and appearance we will let you know if we will need to charge more or less for your choice of wood.

Our standard machine heads by Da-Jung are of great quality, but there are many available and if you want a particular model or make we can source these with a price differential.

The guitar will be finished with a seed oil based product that gives a good protective shield and brings out the natural beauty of the wood.

As Ginkgo Guitars is a new guitar maker, the first 3 orders for the concert model 1 will be at the introductory price of  is £1995 (spruce/cedar top of good quality with a Padauk or similar back and sides and da-jung machine heads). The price after that will be £2500
